The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) organized a campus-wide workshop titled "Intervening as an Ally" at the Student Resource Building (SRB) to address hate crimes and incidents against LGBTQ students both in Isla Vista and on campus. The workshop covered topics such as hate crime education, identifying micro-aggressions, reporting hate crime incidents, and providing support to victims. The session aimed to empower participants to recognize and intervene in cases of micro-aggression on campus and in Isla Vista, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Alarming statistics from a campus climate survey were shared, highlighting the need for such initiatives to combat discrimination and promote dialogue on LGBTQ challenges.
