LGBTQ Staff & Faculty

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity supports LGBTQ staff and faculty in addition to supporting students. If you would like to meet with someone in the RCSGD, email the Director or Associate Director. You can also get connected to staff by calling the RCSGD front desk at 805.893.5847. Below you will find some of the resources provided to LGBTQ staff and faculty at UCSB.

On Campus Resources

LGBTQ Staff & Faculty Collective

The LGBTQ Staff & Faculty Collective is a UCSB staff organization that provides additional networking and community building opportunities for UCSB non-student employees.

Mission: The LGBTQ Staff & Faculty Collective promotes a welcoming campus community for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer staff and faculty at UC Santa Barbara through providing support, resources, and events for LGBTQ employees. This purpose will be achieved through quarterly member meetings, monthly events, mentorship opportunities, and a member directory. This collective has and will continue to seek on-going institutional support from the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, Human Resources, and the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Join The Collective on Shoreline!

Local Resources

In addition to the RCSGD, the following local resources are available to support LGBTQ staff and faculty.

Pacific Pride Foundation's advocacy and education efforts meet the ongoing and emerging needs of a diverse population in order to create a thriving and visible LGBTQ+ community and to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS.

The Santa Barbara Transgender  Advocacy Network educates individuals and organizations on best practices for transgender & gender expansive clients, patients, students, congregants and families; creates and develops spaces, actions, and policies that advance the welfare of transgender and diverse gender non-conforming individuals, their families, and allies in California's Central Coast communities.

Bialogue is a free, confidential weekly discussion group for people who are bi+ (bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, fluid, and otherwise non-monosexual). Group meetings  will include conversations about topics such as coming out, health care, biphobia, relationships, identity labels, community, and more. All genders are welcome. Bi+ participants only, please.

Lisa's Place is your place!  A peer-run drop in center for trans and non binary adults and their friends and allies. Wherever you are in your journey, you're welcome here. The goal of Lisa’s Place is to provide friendship and support to Central Coast gender nonconformists through chat circles, activities, outings, and dinners. The 18years old or older group meets twice a week at the Santa Barbara First Congregational Church (FCC) at 2101 State Street (enter off Padre Street). Hours are subject to change throughout the year as the group requires, and new groups form. Stop by! Lisa’s Place is a safe space. It is both very friendly and very private. Whether you’re out and confident or closeted and shy. Or just simply curious. We will welcome you with open arms and respect.

We, the Santa Barbara area parents, families, and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity, and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG Santa Barbara welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.
