Lex is a Queer/Bisexual UCSB alum, neurodivergent trauma survivor, and femme goth Valley girl from the SFV in Los Angeles, CA. Lex graduated from UCSB in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also has a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Psychotherapist specialized in Queer/Trans mental health and trauma recovery from an intersectional perspective.
Previously, Lex was the LGBTQ+ Program Coordinator and a Rape Crisis Advocate at The Coalition for Family Harmony, Ventura county’s only rape crisis center. In this role, Lex oversaw LGBTQ+ therapy services, event programming, and educational programming. Additionally, she supported and advocated for sexual assault survivors during forensic exams and law enforcement interviews. Furthermore, Lex has taught graduate level Counseling Psychology courses including Domestic Violence, Sexuality & Gender, and Cultural Diversity. In her spare time, Lex was a VolCorps Member for LA Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, a Writing & Editing Fellow for Adios Barbie, and a PATH Homeless Outreach Volunteer for the San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Resource Center.
Lex is extremely passionate about cultivating safer spaces for LGBTQIA+ young adults and other underserved communities in order to help them access critical support and services as well as celebrate their beautiful, diverse identities. She embraces a warm leadership style that encourages authenticity, openness, acceptance, and intersectional perspective. Lex hopes to expand awareness of our LGBTQ+ services to our UCSB students and implement educational programming for our Gaucho community (with the goal of decreasing stigma and violence against our queer and trans communities). Additionally, Lex wants to highlight communities within the LGBTQIA+ communities that often get ignored or misrepresented- so that we may hold space for their experiences, advocate for their needs, and celebrate their unique identities.
Outside of her professional role, Lex hobbies include being silly, eating delicious foods, doing makeup, hiking, watching surrealism films & binging anime, practicing yin & restorative yoga, and rotating through her ADHD plethora of creative projects. She also enjoys baking & music with her spouse and spending cuddle time with her two cats, Dill & Strudel, and her dog, Lemon. Lex is always open to hearing about your passions, life experiences, and needs. Please reach out to her if you are in need of support as she’d love to connect!
