Discussions about academic ableism and disability pedagogy and praxis are crucial to higher education because they challenge the exclusionary practices, processes, and structures in education, making institutions more inclusive and equitable for all learners.
Join us throughout our year-long series of talks, workshops, classroom visits, meetings, and discussions with Dr. Angela Carter on academic ableism, disability justice, and feminist pedagogy in higher education, where we will:
- Deepen understanding of academic ableism, the experiences of disabled people in higher ed, and the relationship between critical disability studies and disability justice
- Provide strategies for success/survival for disabled academics by disabled academics
- Chance to reimagine teaching, mentoring, and research practices in support of disabled students, colleagues, and selves
