How to find the RCSGD Shoreline

1. Login to Shoreline with your UCSB netID information

2. Click 'Groups' in the top left corner

3. Search 'Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity'

4. Join the group to receive our weekly newsletter and to see all the events we will have throughout the school year

 

 

Drop-In Hours

Drop-in hours are times where students can meet with different staff members to discuss and problem-solve one-on-one in the RCSGD Lounge. These are not a closed space, but they can be a great place to receive support and figure out how to navigate the UCSB system. Please find the Spring Quarter drop-in hours below, and make sure to register for them on Shoreline! 

Housing Coordinator Drop In Hours
Every Monday from 9:30am - 11:00am, the RCSGD's LGBTQIA+ Housing Coordinator holds space for queer/trans students to discuss issues regarding housing. For more information, email qthousingcoordinator@sa.ucsb.edu
Jack Rivas Academic Advising
Every Monday from 1:00pm - 2:30pm, Jack Rivas (he/him), an academic advisor, will be in the RCSGD Lounge ready to help students register for classes, check graduation status, and answer any questions regarding academic excellence at UCSB.
Health Equity Advocate Drop In Hours
Every Tuesday from 1:00pm - 2:30pm, UCSB's Health Equity Advocate, Buster Buchanan (he/him), is in the Lounge to answer any questions regarding healthcare at UCSB. For more information, email buchanan856@ucsb.edu
Basic Needs Drop In Hours
Every Tuesday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm, the RCSGD Lounge hosts an advisor from UCSB Basic Needs. This advisor is here to answer any questions regarding signing up for CalFresh, CalFresh benefits, emergency housing and financial crisis, and other resources that exist on and around campus.
Sky Limon Drop In Hours
Every Friday from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, the Associate Director of the RCSGD, Sky Limón (they/them/ellos) hosts their drop-in hours. Sky is able to answer questions and discuss options for students regarding legal name change, name and pronoun advocacy, and many more topics. Sky is also a confidential resource. Recurring Events

Recurring events are events that happen at the same time and place every week. You can find these events on our Shoreline. There are events that are closed to only questioning or identifying students. You can find that information in the event descriptions.

 

QTBIPOC Empowerment Hours

QTBIPOC Empowerment Hours is a space intentionally for QTBIPOC to exist, rest, rejuvenate, and come together as a community to thrive individually and collectively. This event takes place every Monday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the RCSGD Lounge. For more information, email QTpoc@sa.ucsb.edu.

Fall '22 Banner T&NB  EH

Trans Empowerment Hours are open to anyone who is trans, nonbinary, gender-non-conforming, or questioning their gender. They are held on Tuesdays from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the RCSGD Lounge. For more information, email Trans@sa.ucsb.edu.

Trans and GNC Talks
Every Wednesday from 5:00pm - 6:30pm, UCSB's Health Equity Advocate, Buster Buchanan (he/him), and the RCSGD's Trans Empowerment Coordinator co-host Trans and GNC Talks. This space is open for individuals who identify with the trans/gender non-conforming umbrella and/or are questioning their gender identity. This is a closed space. Fall '22 Banner Indigenous EH

Indigenous Empowerment Hours (inactive until a facilitator is found) is a space intentionally for Native, Indigenous, and Two-Spirit students to (re)learn about the importance of Native languages, multiple intersectional identities, and the resources on campus for Native, Indigenous, and Two-Spirit students. 

We are currently looking for a facilitator for this space to join our team! For more information click here.

Spring  23 Bi Us For Us
This is a discussion group for all Bi+ students as well as those questioning. Here we will hold facilitated conversations about all things bi+ related— biphobia, bi-erasure, bi-culture etc. This group is open to all gender identities! Bi Us For Us is held on Thursdays from 5:00pm - 6:00pm in the RCSGD Lounge. For more information click here! 

Annual Events

Annual events are events that happen every year such as: RCSGD Open House in Fall, Coming Out Monologues in Winter, PRIDE Week Collaborations with AS TQCOMM in Spring, Trans Week of Visibility in Spring, and the bringing various speakers to campus throughout the year. Keep an eye on our Instagram (@rcsgd.ucsb) for events coming to campus!

Join us to tour the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity's Lounge, learn about our resources, and meet our staff. Also, make sure to register on Shoreline and join us early so you can claim your share of our special delivery: tamales (made locally and with vegetarian options available)!

Coming Out Monologues in Winter

Winter Quarter

The Coming Out Monologues are an annual event where 2SLGBTQIA+ community can join us to share their experiences through any medium that calls to them. We have performers sign up to present songs, writings, poetry, monologues, and more. And, stay for the Open Mic where we have audience members join us to share their experiences on stage!

RCSGD Collaborations with TQCOMM's PRIDE Week in Spring

Week 1 of Spring Quarter

Associated Students Trans+ and Queer Commission put on UCSB's PRIDE week every Spring Quarter around Week 1! The RCSGD strives to continue collaborating with them to bring you the best programming that we can.

Trans+ Week of Visibility in Spring

Spring Quarter Week 4

Every Spring Quarter, the RCSGD puts on events for Trans+ Day of Visibility, and extends the programming for a full week of events during Week 4. Our Trans+ Week of Visibility has a wide range of programming including bringing major speakers and performers, hosting educational workshops, creating larger social spaces and lunches, and ends the week with a major event: our Trans+ Week of Visibility Resource Fair!
