The University of California, Santa Barbara's Student Health Service (SHS) has been working to expand gender-affirming healthcare services for transgender and queer students. This initiative, which began in 2017 in response to student activism, includes hormone therapy, sexual and reproductive healthcare, mental health services, and more. SHS collaborates with the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) to ensure equitable access to healthcare for transgender and queer individuals at UCSB. Monthly meetings with RCSGD help identify campus needs, and healthcare panels educate students on accessing hormone care and other services. The goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive community for students on their gender journeys.
