About the Student Staff

Drew/Buster Buchanan | He.him | Trans & Nonbinary Empowerment Coordinator

Heyo, I go by Drew or Buster (he.him.his) and I am going into my second year as the Trans and Nonbinary Empowerment Coordinator. I am a fourth year Sociology major and LGBTQ+ minor with a focus in gender studies. I am a queer trans man and very passionate about facilitating trans joy. I throw fun events, host discussion groups, and know just about every trans resource on campus so reach out if you ever need anything! Oh and I also run the RCSGD’s asexual and aromantic programming!

Mikayla | She.hers.her | Outreach Coordinator

Hi y’all! My name is Mikayla (she/her) and I’m super excited to be this year’s Outreach Coordinator! I’m a 3rd year Writing and Lit major with a minor in Theater Production and Design, and I’ve been involved with the RCSGD since my freshman year when I joined as a volunteer. I’ve worked in various forms of activism since high school and have always been inspired by the power of communities working together to create incredible change. This year, my main focus is to create large and small scale events that help students feel supported, empowered, safe, and engaged with their campus community! I’m also working to get our student orgs back up and running, so if you’re interested in starting a club, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! Aside from work, I’m a huge fantasy and mythology nerd, and I’m always on the lookout for queer fairytale/folktale retellings! I also love DnD and would love to hear about your characters and campaigns!

Anastasia Senavsky | She.her.hers | Marketing Coordinator

Hi my Loves! I’m Anastasia, the RCSGD’s Marketing Coordinator! I’m the face behind a lot of the branding, graphics, newsletter and infographics found around campus— but I’m also a die hard studio ghibli lover, aspiring camper/hiker, and part-time meditator. I am a first-generation college student, former foster care youth, and grew up in a low-income and housing insecure community. I understand the importance of connection through advocacy, and want to be a support anyone who is able to reach out, especially Queer and Trans students. I hope to increase the visibility of the RCSGD and create a space everyone on campus can recognize! Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Lauren Sung | she.her.hers | Office Assistant

Hello! I’m Lauren and I am a third year majoring in Political Science with minors in LGBTQ Studies & Chinese. I am very excited to be an Office Assistant and to make new connections this year. I grew up in the Bay Area and love to talk about all things music and books. Please don’t be shy to stop by the front desk to say hello or if you’d like any help finding resources. I hope to see you in the center soon!

Beatrice Longakit | she.they | Office Assistant

Hi y’all! My name is Beatrice and I am a 4th-year Psychological & Brain Sciences major, Applied Psychology minor. I will be one of the Office Assistants for this year, so if you want a tour of the RCSGD Lounge or need help finding resources, just come up to the front desk and let me know! I’m also a first-gen + immigrant scholar who loves to talk about anime and video games. Stop by the center and let’s talk about your fave anime of the season!

Susana Nuñez | She.They | QTBIPOC Empowerment Coordinator

Hi all :P! My name is Susana and I’m a second year majoring in both Sociology & Chicanx Studies. I’m a queer first gen Mexican Indigenous student and I hope to encourage more QTBIPOC peers to come into the center. Fun fact I am an ENFJ and my big three is made up of Pisces sun, Sag moon, and Sag rising. I’m so excited to be the RCSGD’s QTBIPOC Empowerment Coordinator this academic year and I hope to see y’all here!

Fernanda (Nanda) Marin | They.Elle | Programming Assistant

¡Hola! My name is Fernanda but you can call me Nanda! It is my 3rd year here at this beautiful UCSB campus and I am currently working on getting my degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. My experience here has definitely been shaped by being first generation, Latine, nonbinary, and lesbian student so if you identify with any of those identities feel free to contact me! I am always here to support students in whatever way I can with all the resources I have. If you ever have any ideas/suggestions/concerns about something on campus, I am here to listen and make sure your voice is heard. I also love to talk about cooking, anime, reality tv, competition shows, music, art, and anything & everything queer!

Anissa Estrada | she.her.hers | Education Coordinator

Hey everyone!  I’m Anissa and I’m going to be your Education Coordinator. I’m pursuing a double major in Writing and Literature and FIlm and Media Studies! This is my second year on the UCSB campus and I’m super excited to be here and contribute to our amazing LGBT community on campus. I hail from LA county but specifically the San Fernando Valley. I’m a proud AfroLatina with a passion for all things LGBT related. Please don’t be afraid to come say hey and ask any questions!

Ciela Flores | she.her.hers | Monarch Intern

Hi, my name is Ciela Flores! I am a 4th year Global Studies major and Theater minor. I’m a Latina first-gen student from El Salvador and am excited to be able to get to know and support you all. This year I’m looking forward to being able to support and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ and the immigrant community as the Monarch Intern in the RCSGD. Feel free to reach out to chat about anything from university and course-related stuff to music, movies, and anything else!

Levin Fetzer | they.them | LGBTQIA+ Wellness Coordinator

Hey there! My name is Levin and I am a senior in the Feminist Studies department. As a transfer student, 2021-22 was my first year at UCSB, and the RCSGD provided me with the opportunity to connect with and build a community of queer peers. Being a Feminist Studies major has allowed me devote my academic journey to queerness and dismantling systemic inequities. As the LGBTQIA+ Wellness Coordinator, my hope is to work on breaking barriers to resources for LGBTQIA+ students. I love to read and write, but my current passion is drag! I’m looking forward to meeting y’all when you stop by the Center!
