Socials and Peer Spaces

These events typically happen at the same time and place every week.

Some of these events are social spaces to make connections while others offer a discussion space to share your challenges and growth with community peers.

These events center conversations about different identities and experiences and are open to all students interested in engaging with like-minded peers.

A place to connect with community members and supporters on campus about Bi+ identities and experiences, Bi Us for Us hosts weekly events with fun crafts, heart-felt conversations, and most of all, community. Event details are subject to change, so keep an eye out on the RCSGD Instagram and Shoreline for more information.

A group dedicated to journal scrapbooking, snacking, and community spaces to explore conversations on Sapphic identities! Every week, we’ll focus on a different theme to spark your crafty creativity and provide community care. Bring your scraps from home or come ready to create your own masterpiece with the RCSGD’s supplies!

Trans & Nonbinary Empowerment Hours will take place every other Monday from 6-8pm beginning October 13.

Trans* Empowerment Hours are a weekly social space open to students exploring gender diverse identities. Themes and activities vary by week but generally center trans joy.

QTBIPOC Empowerment Hours will take place every other Monday from 6-8pm beginning October 6.

QTBIPOC Empowerment Hours are intentional spaces for all students to connect, exist, rest, rejuvenate, and come together as a community to thrive individually and collectively. The more we can share about QTBIPOC experiences and work as a community to uplift those in need of our support, the stronger our community will be!

Resource Drop-In Hours

Drop-In Hours are hosted by RCSGD staff and collaborators in the RCSGD Lounge.

Visitors are welcome to stop by within these hours to chat and learn about the resources offered below. You can also schedule your own appointment outside these hours by emailing them directly.

Health Equity Advocacy

Learn more about health and medical options on and off campus. Have questions related to medical and transition care or want to talk to someone about improving healthcare at UCSB? Come meet Buster, UCSB"s Health Equity Advocate, in our Lounge!

RCSGDxCAPS Drop-In Hours

Looking to explore an issue related to mental or emotional health? Not sure if therapy is what you’re needing? During these times, the RCSGD will host in-community clinicians from CAPS for drop-in hours during which students can explore an issue or question related to mental health, therapy, coming/being out, gender exploration/expression or identity, sexual orientation/identity, trans and gender-expansive care, or really any topic of concern. 

For Fall 2025, CAPS Drop-In Hours are in the RCSGD lounge every Wednesday from 4-5pm.

Rainbow Recharge

 

Looking for individual and confidential support? Lex Brand, the Assistant Director of Student Support & Advocacy, can help with everything from name and gender changes to talking about finding resources in a confidential space. Restore yourself with some delicious snacks, relaxation skills, and a calming study space open to all students!

For Fall 2025, Rainbow Recharge is in the RCSGD lounge every Tuesday from 3-5pm. Additionally, if you'd like to meet with Lex, you can schedule a one-on-one using the links below.

These online spaces are a great way for students at UCSB to make friends and stay connected! Spaces may center different conversations and identities, but all students are welcome to engage with us.
 

  • This student-run server has many channels to chat, share events, plan meetups, and make friends. It is one of the largest chats at UCSB that center exploring gender and sexuality with over 500 members.

Local Events

These events are not run by the RCSGD but are still a great way to  get involved with local LGBTQIA+ communities both on and off campus! These events are open to all, please reach out to the event organizers to learn more.
 

Each quarter, Creatures of the Night Production Company hosts a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadow cast at the IV theater.

Every spring quarter, UCSB’s Trans and Queer Commission hosts a week full of pride-centered events to celebrate and LGBTQIA+ joy to everyone.

Follow their Instagram to see what they have planned this year!

Every August, The Pacific Pride Foundation hosts the Santa Barbara Pacific Pride Festival at Chase Palm Park.

The festival offers live entertainment, food trucks, booths, activities, and more!

The Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network (SBTAN) hosts multiple weekly trans discussion groups in addition to some special events open to all community members.

Gay Santa Barbara is an Instagram page that collects and posts LGBTQ+ events happening in the Santa Barbara area. All are welcome to join and express their support!

Wildcat Bar has a weekly daytime drag show on Sundays called Glitter Brunch!

These shows sell out fast, so be sure to get tickets in advance.

This is a 21+ space.

 

Gay Santa Barbara hosts gay/queer community pop-up nights at local bars!
